Tuesday Morning

No time to post yesterday...a full and long day and was beat-by-the-heat by last night, so I was in bed early. I got home to find the Irishman  had picked peaches, blackberries and some apples...to add to my pile of beans, tomatoes and okra and jalapenos that I need to take care of. sigh...I know he thinks he's helping. They could have stayed on the trees/bushes one more day so that I wouldn't have to try to do everything in one day. Before I have to go to work!!!!  The heat has brought a plethora of insect problems, and my house is subject to fruit fly attacks and ant rampages and I honestly don't think I can take much more. When all that fruit is left to sit more than one day, it's a war.

Having trouble with google this morning, not letting me post on other blogs. Some yes, some no. Aggravating and frustrating.

The puppy peed on the carpet again last night, so I have to get that cleaned up too. Mostly she's doing very well...I tried putting puppy pads down and she thinks they're the best for chewing and pulverizing and dragging all oper the house. sigh...

I had a plan for this morning, but now that has changed and I am cranky. Sort of.

The chickens are getting a little heat stressed, but managing. Egg production is still okay, but it kills me to see them panting so hard. I mist them every now and then with my sprayer and have thought about putting a child's pool in there for them. One of the hard plastic ones, not the inflatable ones.  LOL  Would they bathe like wild birds do in the birdbath?  hmmmm.....

We are moving into Day 5 of the Dangerous and Excessive Heat Wave.  They are warning people to stay indoors and be especially careful. I worry about the Irishman at work, it's so hot in that welding and burn building. He said they had a safety meeting the other day about the heat. Thank goodness. It was already 85 at 8 AM today. Didn't get below 78 last night.

I wanted to stop by and say hey to several peoples blogs and google is screwing up and puts me into this endless round of going to sign in, not working, going back to sign in. That really annoys me. And won't even post it as anonymous. (Which I don't want it to do anyway, but could at least say hey and make my presence known.)

Alright. I have lots to do and better quit stalling. Hope you all stay cool and have a blessed day...whatever your endeavors. I know I'll be a lot less cranky in a bit.  lol

PS...the dryer balls came yesterday!!!  Can't wait to try them. Will let you know...stay tuned.

Namaste.

I've been following the heat wave from cool and rainy Washington state. It's scary how hot and protracted this event has become, while at the same time our usual beautiful summer weather is staying away.

You might try downloading the Chrome browser, which seems to be working better for blogging than some of the other ones. If you are using I/E, that's your problem, most likely.

My puppy wasn't a fan of the pee pads either. I would come home to find them shredded.

Growing fruit and veggies is awesome but it sounds like a lot of work. We ordered two different apple trees and two pear trees from the National Arbor Day site. Delivery will be in Nov.

DJan...it's been brutal and there seems to be no end in sight. Well, maybe in October. lol I use Firefox and IE...and you're right, I've been opening the blog in IE. I'm in Firefox now. Let's see what happens! Thanks for the tip.

Kristin--what kind of brain damage makes me forget what puppies are like every time? They are such a mixed blessing. LOL (I was gonna say pain in the a**)

Technobabe--it is a lot of work, but man...is it worth it./ I have 2 peach trees, a pear tree a cherry tree (sour pie cherries) and an apple tree in my front yard that I planted 6 years ago when we bought the place. So good to see you...

My puppies loved to shred the pee pads, I finally gave up and started to take my job of trainer in earnest and took rigorous action and paid vigerous attention to them to train them.

They're good dogs now 11 years old and only mess when they're sick.

I'm grateful that I have such good dogs.

Miss Jess...yes, in a perfect world that is how it would be. lol As it is, we do what we can and the other dogs are teaching her a LOT of things. Last night and this morning, so far--no accidents. yippee!!!!
I'll let you know about the chickens!

The heat you are describing is the same as an Australian summer on the East Coast in the middle of the continent it can rise up to 50c!!!!! It has not stopped raining here for the last few days and although it is not bitterly cold it is a damp cold that chills me to the bone!!!!

I don't see why a little tots paddling pool would not work with the chooks the dogs have 3 and love to play in the water to cool down - would you believe in the middle of winter my banana tree has decided to produce bananas don't think they will ripen properly although they may!!!!!!!!!!!

Remember to try and take it easy mate we are not as young as we used to be says this old duck!!

Love to you both Wendy xx

Now you have me really curious about the wading pool for the chickens. You'd think they'd be smart enough to wade around in the water to cool off if it was shallow and not too deep. Poor things!

And poor you! Having to do all that before going to work. It's too hot to do anything. The AC can't even keep up here. It is cooler than outside, but you move around and you sweat--so it can't keep up with the crazy heat and humidity.

I hope you get a break in the weather soon. *hugs*

Oh Wendy! The world has just gone topsy turvy, hasn't it? lol It is crazy on this side of the world too, and everywhere I guess. SO good to see you, and I will take care. You too. xoxoxoxox

Rita- I know...the AC here struggles to keep up, but valiantly runs nonstop until about 10:30 at night, when it finally catches up enough to shut down a bit. It hasn't come back on yet this morning...

I'm picking up the wading pool today. Bless their little chicken hearts!
