All snowed in...

It's quite beautiful out there, as long as you don't have to go anywhere. I slept late, stayed in most all of the day, and ventured out only to check on the chooks and get the mail. Which, BTW, was a big mistake. I slipped a little on the driveway hill, but didn't hurt anything. Could have though... Chastised myself thoroughly.  lol

It never got above 15 today. That's a bit cool for my taste. To counteract the cold, I did laundry and ran the dryer. lol  And then I made a chicken and vegetable curry for supper, served over aromatic Jasmine rice. It was great.

We had some excitement out here on Detour Road today...around 11AM, 2 firetrucks came roaring down the icy road. Followed by a sheriff car and an ambulance.  Couldn't tell what was going on and didn't really see any smoke, but it was so cold out there I didn't hang around looking all that long.  The the electric company came  to change out the meter. All 3 dogs, of course, had to run out and welcome him, lol.  When he was finished, he backed his big giant heavy truck out into the road and then spent about 10 minutes trying to get up the little hill  that is the road in front of our house.  It would have been almost comical if I hadn't been so concerned that he was gonna take out my mailbox...

A couple of hours later, another ambulance went screaming down our road. This never happens out here...we live such a quiet existence out here and when anything with a siren comes along, we're all a bunch of lookyloos.   Talked to a couple of neighbors up at this end and nobody knew anything. hmmm...

I haven't felt good all day-woke up with a scratchy sore throat, and it keeps getting steadily worse. I am SO not coming down with anything!!! NOOoooooooo!!!!!!!!   Chilly off and on, so I spent a lot of today on the couch with my leg up on pillows (still sore and tired from yesterday) covered with an afghan, reading and sipping teas. Mint, chamomile, you know.  Covered with sleeping animals...the Jack Russell Terrorist on my feet, cats across my chest and lap, little baby dawg on the floor at my hand and Lucy the lab wherever she can sneak in.  All of us snuggled up like a pack of hibernating chinchillas.  LOL

The dinner party is shaping up...so far I have 5 positive yeses, 2 maybes and 2 can't do its. I am going to make a regular spaghetti with putanesca sauce, and meatballs on the side, and then a dish called Aglio y olio, which is really just a simple pasta with a garlic and olive oil dressing on it. And shredded parm and romano, of course. I'll make a big salad and dress it with some kind of a vinaigrette, and I'll bake Italian Bread. I think I can bake it and freeze it ahead of time. Then pull it out and finish it off in the oven. One of my friends is going to bring heart shaped cupcakes, and I will make something else for dessert, I was thinking a beautiful Trifle would be good.  I have a perfect dish to put it in, a cake plate with a lid that turns upside down and makes a pedestal bowl. I love a good party....

Well, enough babbling for tonight. I just took some more echinacea and am going to head for bed soon. It's already past midnight....sigh....

  Be Blessed!

Namaste.

I hope you don't stay sick for too long, and that dinner party sounds like a lot of work to me. Your friends are so fortunate to have such an overachiever to cook for them! The menu sounds excellent!

I don't think I will be able to stand not knowing what all the emergency vehicles were for. Give us an update when you find out.

And for crying out loud, BE CAREFUL OUT THERE on your leg.

::sigh::

Love to you, darlin'.

Sheesh, you are the one recovering and you are the one accomplishing so darn much. Yesterday I did a few things around the house but nothing compared to what you do. The menu for the birthday party sounds good to go and sounds like just the right number of people will be there. Enough to make it interesting and small enough for intimate and friendly conversation.

Prayers for speedy healing! YUMMY FOOD!

The snow sure is beautiful! I would enjoy it in front of a fireplace with hot cocoa in my hand, kitties in my lap and dogs at my feet. :)

Trifle must be on a pedestal plate, good idea.

Great photo, what a transformed world.

I agree with Kristin, watch that leg.
