A wet and cold Sunday in mid-May
(Sorry--but I thought this was hysterical!)
It's been raining since Friday evening. After I hand watered most of the garden, of course. And by hand watered, I mean carrying watering cans full of water from the rain barrels. Arrgghhh....So now everything is well watered, and temps have been 50 or below, after days of 90 degrees. Today was absolutely yucky.
There is lots of sprouting in the garden, despite the cool temperatures. And my irises are all blooming too. It's lush and green and wet out there. lol
I am tired and checking in before I go to bed. The Irishman has to take his truck to the garage tomorrow morning and drop it off. Something wrong with it...hopefully not too serious. We cannot easily afford a big auto repair bill. Oh, well. It will work out the way things always do. Sometimes easier than other times. I'm thinking of a humorous quote..."It will all be okay in the end. If it's not okay--it's not the end."
Watched a very strange movie tonight from Netflix called Little Children. Had mixed feelings about it...
This wet cold has my joints in an uproar. The arthtritis is getting worse and more painful. I guess that is the nature of arthritis. Reminding myself to move, move, move...even when it hurts. It hurts much worse if I don't. My hands are hurting tonight, as well as my knees and ankles. I could use some good hot weather to just lie out on the chaise lounge and let the healing energy of the sun do it's stuff. Maybe tomorrow I will use the jacuzzi at the gym. That affords some relief too.
I chopped down my chives today, Mama Pea. I froze a bag of flowers to see what they do too. 2 quart bags, one of garlic chives and one of reguilar old chives. Snipped and frozen. WooHoo!
Okay. I'm heading to bed. It's about half past midnight here and the old bed is calling me.
Tomorrow it's supposed to be a tad warmer and much sunnier. Here's hoping....
Namaste.

Winter's back !
We don't want no more stinking winter.....
***********************************************
Several days in a row of 40+ degrees and now we suddenly have a winter weather advisory all over us again. sigh...Looking at a possible 4-6 inches tonight and tomorrow...and I have to be at the doc at 9 AM to have the sutures removed. Luckily, the Irishman is off tomorrow and will be home to drive me. His Wisconsin genes come in real handy....lol
Woke up sick this morning and hurled a few times throughout the day. Very icky, but tonight I am better. Not 100%, but better than I was. YUCK! I rested a lot today and napped a few times too.
I made a quiche for supper tonight, we have a surplus of eggs,. as the chickens suddenly started laying again out of the blue, after 6 months without a single orb. Mysteries of the Universe. I had a tiny chunk of bacon in the freezer, and coupled with some spinach, onions and sun dried tomatoes, it made for a feast. I tried something new with the crust too....and tomorrow you can read all about it at Dragon Womans Kitchen. I promise. lol I even snapped some lovely pictures.
We watched a marvelous documentary called A Man Named Pearl tonight. Pearl Fryar is a man in Bishopville, SC who does incredible works of topiary art. He watched a 3 minute demonstration at a nursery one time, thought it was the coolest thing he'd ever seen, and went home and started a magnificent living art display on his 3 acres. It's a heartwarming testament to the spirit of a man...I rate it A+++. Netflix has it. I'm sure you can google him and prepare to be amazed.
I'm tired and going to bed early tonight. Plus I have to be up by 7. The critters are all snuggled in, sleeping here and there, and everyone is in for the night (I hope). Have to do a head count before I turn in....My knee is itching like crazy and I cannot wait to get these stitches out. I took a shower tonight and shaved my legs, even. lol I halfway wrapped up the knee and didn't care...the dang things are coming out first thing in the morning--so what if they get a little damp? Just for good measure, I dried them with a hairdryer after I finished. LOL
We're considering the concert that I won tickets to...it doesn't even start until 10PM...and we are old. LOL The Irishman still thinks he's 20, even though he'll be 50 on Monday...but he's also the one who's asleep by 9 PM, so we'll see what happens. He wants to go, we're there. I googled the club it's in and guess what??--NONSMOKING!!! YIppee..So, it might be doable. It is in the heart of St Louis, and we are just dumb old country folk, but if it happens it happens and if it doesn't, it doesn't. It's right around an hour away...IN THE CITY. That's probably not
a big deal to most of you , but it's huge for me. lol
Sayonara. I'm toodling off to dreamland....
Namaste.

Wednesday December 2nd

This was me this morning. After one night of less than 2 hours sleep and then last night with only about 4, I was whipped. It is barely 11 PM now and I am falling asleep at the keyboard.
We are having or first snowfall of the year tonight, it started around 7 and has been falling ever since. However, the ground is still way too warm for it to stick really, although the weather guys were insisting it would be our first accumulating snow. Jokes on them.
I had a rough day, had to take my cat to the vet and have him put to sleep. He's been sick and the vet diagnosed him with cancer. It was the best thing to do for him. Not so much for me. But today I can do the right thing and I just have to feel blessed to have had him as long as I did. He was a very sweet cat, and the sicker he got, the sweeter he got. Then when I got home from that, I learned that my lab Lucy has hurt her foot/leg and is limping badly. At first I wanted to cry, but managed to pull it together and check her out. I think it's only a sprain, and if it isn't better by Friday, I will take her to the vet. I am blessed to be an animal caretaker...
My sponsling has moved into the little studio apartment on the back of my house. So far, so good. She'll stay there until she can get back on her feet. Hopefully not more than a few months. :)
Another sponsling moved into her own apartment today. She is sober quite a while and is especially grateful. It's a cute little place too, I went over this afternoon and took her a shower curtain and rod.
God is good.
We watched a movie I ordered from Netflix and it was a French film called The Vanishing. I didn't see that it as in French with English subtitles. We had a good laugh over that and watched it while we ate dinner. It was a freaky film about a psychopath.
I think I really am going to have to hit the hay. Pooped. Have a grand day, all y'all... or evening. Or whenever it is that you're reading this. lol
Namaste.
