"Saint Anthony, Saint Anthony, please come around: Something is lost and needs to be found!!"

After an emotional and traumatic Friday morning of having to put our little angel to sleep, I somehow managed to lose my car keys. Well, they weren't actually lost until Monday, because I had no intention of going anywhere all weekend.  I was feeling punky and oh-so-sad ...my plan was to just lay low and rest.  After all, I had a big party coming up on the 22nd. And my house is a mess. Blah blah blah  Anyway Monday morning came and I decided to go grocery shopping and then come home and make that gorgeous pot pie for the potluck.  Got dressed, got my coat on and... couldn't find my car keys. I drove home from the veterinary hospital, so I knew I had them here. I turned this place upside sown, after completely emptying my purse. Twice. I looked on the pockets of every coat and pair of pants that I own. I looked under cabinets, under sofas and chairs and tables. I looked under the refrigerator.  I traced my path back to the car and looked all around outside it and then inside it.  I looked in the fridge. I looked in the oven. I looked in both bathrooms. I walked out to the burn pit and then to Caylees's grave.

  No keys. Nada. Zip. Nuttin'.

Thinking that when I hit big roadblocks, I change where I'm going...I went in the bedroom and changed clothes and thought, well...I'll make something different for the potluck out of whatever I have in the pantry. I'll start some house cleaning. Surely they'll show up...they have to be here somewhere.

I took a rake to the burn pile...you may remember that a few years ago I hauled the Irishman's truck keys out in a handful of paper and advertisers and burned them up. The replacement cost was...more  than I care to spend, shall we say. So I was really afraid I had done that again. There was no sign of them.

Might I mention here that, when I couldn't find them at first, I thought I'll just get the spare key that I keep hidden in the sewing machine table/altar in my office. The spare key is not there either. I ALWAYS keep it there. So, I called husbandman to ask him if he  A) had taken my keys accidently and B) had he used the spare key and not put it back...when I was in the hospital maybe?  As the phone started to ring, I could hear it in the living room.  Grrr...

Several people told me to pray to St Anthony, the patron saint of lost things. I'm not always a big fan of the saints, but hey...well, he must have been on vacation on Monday, because the day came and went and no keys.

Tuesday morning came and went. Most of Tuesday afternoon. I took a long nap, really not feeling good today. Have decided to cancel the party because we are sick and don't want to spread this bug around.  :(   When I woke up from my nap, one more time I said

"Saint Anthony, Saint Anthony, please come around:
Something is lost and needs to be found!!"

I went into my closet where the last pair of jeans I had on Friday was laying across the back of a chair. I had checked the pants and had the thought about what a mess the closet was. Then I wondered if the keys could have fallen out of the pocket when I tossed them on the chair and voila ! there were my keys. Hiding and cozy in the floor. Behind the chair.

Sigh... the spare key is still on the lam. But I can drive again. Tomorrow I will go out and pick up some groceries and come back home, because tonight I really feel crappy. But there are some good sales going on and I need a few basics.

Feeling bad about cancelling the party, but I'm sure that the WHO and the CDC would applaud my actions. lol  I was really looking forward to it.

And now I'm tired and the bed is calling me and I think I will  be able to get some sleep.  Hope you all stay well. I'm blaming the coumadin  that won't let me eat any green vegetables because they contain Vitamin K which plays a major role in clotting.  Vitamin K is also essential for a healthy immune system. Grrr...

Blessings and love to you all...tomorrow will be a brighter day.

  Namaste

St. Anthony had a little help from your unwillingness to give up. So sad about your latest fur baby. I still think about Roxie now and then, he was my favorite little guy. I think you did the right thing to cancel.

With the cost of these keys with a computer chip in them, it's easy to not give up. lol I know what you mean about Roxie...it never gets any easier...Have a great day--I feel like a smoldering pile of poo this morning. Rough night...

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. It is so heart-wrenching, losing those dear, furry beings. Sounds like too much going on and too much stress - I always lose my keys when things turn chaotic. I think St. Anthony should be the Saint of Slow Down and Smell the Roses. Glad you found your keys and I think cancelling your party is the best thing you can do for yourself. Take care.

Thanks Susan...this one was especially hard. When she was 6 months old she skidded down a snowy bank in front of truck. she was pretty banged up and had minute fractures in many of her vertebrae. She was on drug induced (lol) bedrest for 8 weeks and she and I really bonded. She was my little baby...

I agree about St Anthony. And I'm the same way about losing things when I'm especially stressed. Oh well..Ce La Vie...we'll have the party in the dead of winter in February around the Irishman's birthday. We'll all probably NEED a party then anyway. lol

I have never heard of anyone else using Saint Anthony besides my family - glad you found the keys.

A side note about coumadin - we finally had a doctor that told us the truth - if you are eating a regular size portion of one of the vegetables with Vitamin K in it - it is ok to continue that habit - it is when the Vitamin K levels are erratic - large servings one day - no servings for 3 or 4 days - that it messes with the clotting levels. If you are completely off Vitamin K vegetables I'd start with a small helping every couple days for a week - then increase the servings to every other day and then stay on that schedule - we found that we felt better being able to have our Vitamin K veggies than we did without - and the clotting levels were fine with just minor adjustments. We didn't pig out on huge helpings of the vegetables but maintained a balance of the same amounts and had no troubles. Both my husband and I are off coumadin completely - and glad to be - as it is a dangerous drug even when needed. Did you know it is the same ingredient as rat poison - only in a lesser amount. We have opted to go with fish oil supplement and two baby aspirin a day to keep our clotting under control - no problems - at all - and we've been doing this for almost a year now. If there were a surgery in our future we would have to stop the fish oil and the baby aspirin for a week to control bleeding during surgery. Good luck - and have a small serving of green vegetables if you want to. Also research which vegetables actually have a lot of Vitamin K. And of course the doctors waved their arms in the air and cried out that we would die of a stroke if we stopped coumadin - the studies we read showed that the stats the doctors were quoting were dreadfully high compared to the truth - they had been tutored by Big Pharma and actually told to intimidate patients into taking the drugs recommended by Big Pharma.

Thank you JoAnn...I never take the doctors advice regarding their drugs very seriously. And you are right about them and Big Pharma. I think I will try the baby aspirin and fish oil route. I am seeing my orthopedic on TUesday to see about having the second knee replacement ASAP..I am in serious pain with it and the first one is so wonderful that it makes the pain even worse. lol I have suffered with this stuff way too long. The first knee was the worst...doc said (when we looked at the xrays) My God, how are you even walking?? I said--like a pirate. The knee doesn't bend at all. They were both severe cases of osteoarthritis and bone degeneration.

PS--love the pics on your blog.

And I can deeply sympathize with your unfortunate and desperate process of finding...I have had the same situation trying to remember where I had put my keys from the home door...But I begged St Anthony and he helped...)))
