It's Thursday...and the sun is shining!!!
Here's an early picture of the painting of the living room. I went through some anxious moments when I was second guessing myself about the color. In the end, I'm real happy with it.
Here's a shot of the dining area, with some of the junk back on the walls. You'll be proud to know that I did scale it way down...lol Either that, or I've just been too lazy to put stuff back up. Crikey. Is that a cat sitting in the midle of my table?? Surely not...
I was way too tired to post last night and was in bed before midnight. I was up before 7 AM this morning and today and tomorrow I get to stay home and play, or go out and play, or just play and play. Or work my butt off...which doesn't really appeal to me either. WHAT?? How about a little balance, you say?? How about a little work and a little play? hmmmm....what a concept.
Yesterday morning was weird. I got a call from a lunatic woman across the pond from me, screaming at me and swearing at me and telling me to come get her dog because she was sick and tired of cleaning up after it. Before I could say anything, the gods intervened and she hung up on me. Somehow, I managed not to go over to her house or call her back. It would have been a mess. As it was, I got angry, I got thoughtful, and I got busy thinking about something else. I am constantly praying for compassion where she is concerned. I wish that she and her husband would just move back to the city where they belong. I don't think it will be long. They have taken most of the trees off their 5 acre property because she "doesn't like trees". She gets pissed becasue the ducks and geese make too much noise on the pond, and it bothers her. There are bugs in her house, no matter how much Raid she sprays and the mice too...don't get her started on the mice. I just smile and shake my head. This is country living, bitch. Out here, you learn to co-exist on some small level with Mother Nature. Or--you go away. Becasue MN will win every time. They fight and scream and call each other vile names...and it all drifts across the water to my backyard. I told her once that every time they fight, I could write a ttranscript of it. She said she didn't care. I said, well I care. I care about havingt abusive energy and language assaulting my senses every time I go outside, or if my kitchen window is open. She flounced off. (She's a flouncer).
Sigh...
I really wish I had 40 or 50 acres, so I could live in relative peace. Of course, I'd have to have a handsome young handyman to help take care of it all. *snork
I'm going to take my baby sister out for lunch today, if she's free, and maybe bring her home with me for a while. That means I need to get off here, get a tiny bit of straightening up done and maybe start a load of laundry.
Then I'll make a nice supper for us and actually have an evening meal with my husband.
OOooo...the possibilities.
For now, I have to check on my chickens. The rains have turned their chicken run into a muddy mess. I'll feed them and talk to them and collect some eggs and maybe make a nice quiche or something. We'll exchange some chicken loves and then I'll mosey on into the day....

Can you imagine....fencing in the goddesses like this??? lol~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It's after midnight and I should be abed. The temperature right now is 5 degrees, with a minus 7 wind chill. I have a feeling that this is going to be a brutal winter around these parts...it's certainly off to a good start. We spent part of the day weatherizing the windows with plastic sheeting and I put up a heavy curtain over the kitchen window as well, on top of the plastic, because you can feel the draft coming in there. It's snug as a bug now. Husbandman finished the cleaning and checking of the kerosene heater, you have to burn the wick down (or something) every year, and check it all out to make sure it's ready to go if we should need it. We have a lot of power outages here, so many trees and lots of wide open spaces. The pantry needs checking and fine tuning, and otherwise, we're as ready as we'll ever be for the long dark winter. lol
Want to shout out a "HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!" to KristinH over at Jilli Java...hope it was grand, girlie! I love birthdays of all kinds. Got a call from my little niece down south, informing me that her birthday party would be on the 11th and I needed to make sure to come, because she loves me. I have a nephew that shares my birthday next Wednesday, his wife is the 4th, his daughter is the5th and we are the 6th. Then Skyler is the 11th. It's a busy month in my family...lol
We watched the movie Usual Suspects tonight, as we hadn't seen it in a while. Kevin Spacey, Gabriel Byrne, Kevin Pollack, Chaz Palmeintiere(sp)...a magnificent cast and a great story. Had leftovers for dinner, and had made a nice tuna salad for lunch, all trimmed up with hard boiled egg and artichoke hearts and pickled green beans and black olives. It was yummy...and healthy too. Supper was a refreshed spaghetti sauce with meatballs and pasta. Using up leftovers...The only thing left was 3 meatballs that I will feed that man for lunch tomorrow as a sub. Just about got the fridge cleaned out...still have a counter full of cookies though.
I'm feeling very blessed today for a lot of reasons. I like feeling this way. Went to a good meeting last night and got to see my pal who's leaving for the islands on Tuesday. Got to see my sponsor and make a lunch date for Monday with her. We talked about that psychic change...wow. When I look back at what it used to be like, there's no doubt in my mind that I have experienced that shift. I'm so grateful to be sober, that I can't find the words.
Time for me to go off to bed. I'm overtired and feeling a little goofy. Sweet dreams, all y'all...
Namaste.

December 26, 2009

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. Mine turned out to be a pleasant time filled with family and friends and food...just like it is meant to be.
We have had so much rain that the creeks were flooding. On Christmas Eve night, it was 51 degrees when I went to bed. In spite of this abnormal weather, we did wind up having a minimally white Christmas as the rain turned to snow at about 9AM on Friday morning. It was a dry pretty snow, and the asphalt was still so warm from the week of crazy temps that nothing much stuck to the roads. That's what I call perfect snow...all the beauty and none of the hassle.
We had about 12 people at the house Christmas night for soup and freshly made (by me) french bread and tomato, basil, garlic bread. Big platters of cookies and candy and hot chai teas and cocoa and coffee. The first of the guests arrived around 4 and the last of them left around 10. It was really nice, lots of conversation and laughter and love in that room.
Today husbandman is gone to his Saturday ritual of meeting, hiking and whatever it is he does. I am truly blessed to be loved by that man. These past few days he has been off work for the holidays, and he stepped right up to the plate and helped with all the cleaning and cooking and whatever I needed him to do. He is a gentle and loving man....and a true gift in my life today. He told me this morning that he would like to have a birthday party this year (he usually hates them, lol). He said that it didn't have to be like the 50th surprise party he had for me (when one of my sober friends drove her 1982 Mercedes [tank] through the front wall of the restraunt where we were having the party). I told the policeman that came that it had been a long time since I had a party where the police were called. I turned 50 in 2003, and I was 13 years sober. lol He turns 50 on February 8th...he's an Aquarius, like my dad, whose birthday was February 2nd. I wish my dad and he could have met...they would have absolutely loved each other.
No plans for today besides recuperating from the day of cooking and being on my feet all day yesterday. I'm sitting up now with alternating heat/cold on my knee and some warmed up creamy potato soup in my belly. Tomorrow morning at the 10 AM meeting one of my sponslings is celebrating 1 year. A magnificent milestone of a miracle that I have been honored to witness and be a small part of. I am constantly blessed in this program to witness the miracles of recovery. My own included.
I'm going to read and sip tea and just have an all around low key day.
Wanna join me????
Namaste.
